NOW COMPLETELY BOOKED - SORRY!
Thanks to a grant from the Museums Development small grant scheme Doncaster Museum is offering a four day FREE training course on archaeological ceramics. The two elements of the courses will be delivered by:
Ruth Leary – Roman Pottery Chris Cumberpatch – Medieval and Later Pottery
The course is aimed at volunteers and curators (and assumes no specialist knowledge). It will run over four days with two days dedicated to each major pottery group (Roman and Medieval). The first day will give the attendee an overview of how ceramic archives are constructed how they should be referenced via the paper archive, the limitations and possibilities, how to create a more structured archive and how you might create a useful reference collection, with opportunities for discussion and questions. The second day will examine a range of archaeological ceramic rich archives in Doncaster Museum with a chance to discuss curatorial issues and how they can be overcome. Attendees will have the opportunity to actively discuss with the course provider and other attendees ways of sorting and processing new and old archives with a view to better storage, access and referencing.
There are 7 places available, on a first come first served basis via Peter Robinson. Closing date for bookings is Wednesday 10th March 2010
