Who is this course for?
This training workshop should be of interest to anyone who is new to or responsible for exhibition planning and installation in libraries, archives, museums or galleries.
What will it cover?
The day will comprise of an introductory overview to planning and installing exhibitions, a practical session and will be based around OLD AND NEW tricks of the trade with a focus on textiles and torso dressing.
Delegates will be encouraged to participate through discussions and activities, and there will be plenty of opportunity for questions throughout.
A tour of the state-of-the art museums storage facility will be available.
Who will be running it?
It will be coordinated and delivered by Alison Mitchelson, YHFED Freelance Training Provider.
The trainer will be Ciaran Elizabeth Doran, who has over 30 years of museum and gallery experience, at national, local and independent museums. She trained and worked at the Imperial War Museum, London in their Exhibitions Department, working on headline exhibitions at the main Imperial War Museum, the Churchill War Rooms, HMS Belfast, Duxford Airfield and Imperial War Museum North, where she remained for over 25 years before moving to work in the independent sector. Recently she has been involved in the delivery of exhibitions and events relating to the Centenary of WW1, working on a Private Film Archive and Collection and managing the delivery of exhibitions in an Arts & Health Environment.
What will it cost?
The course is priced at a £35 for Fed members and £45 for non-fed members. Coffee and tea will be provided. Please note that lunch is not included. Lunch is available for purchase in the area or you can bring a packed lunch There will also be 3 free places for volunteers, from organisations who are YHFed members available on a first come first served basis.

It will be located at the Leeds Discovery Centre.
